Izuku Midoriya still couldn't quite believe he had a boyfriend.
It had only been three weeks—twenty-one days since he nervously asked out the boy from the support course, the one with the soft voice, brilliant tech ideas, and the habit of avoiding eye contact but always smiling when Izuku talked about quirks like it was the most important thing in the world. His name made Izuku’s chest warm every time he said it, even just in his head.
They met by accident, though Izuku liked to think of it as fate. It had been a normal Thursday afternoon—he’d stayed late after class, rambling about hero statistics to Iida and Uraraka, when he noticed someone standing near the stairwell, looking completely out of place and a little anxious. He remembered how the boy’s hands had been flapping at his sides, his eyes flicking between the map on the wall and the hallway behind him.
“I… I don’t usually go this way,” he had said, voice shaking a bit. “I took the wrong elevator.”
Izuku offered to walk him back, of course. It wasn’t even a question. They talked the whole way—well, Izuku talked, mostly, and the other boy listened, sometimes jumping in with thoughtful comments that made Izuku’s heart stutter. There was something about him—so genuine, so direct in a way that felt… comforting. Refreshingly honest.
Now, three weeks into dating, Izuku was still figuring things out. It was his first relationship. He didn’t always know what to do with his hands when they walked side by side, or if it was okay to hug without asking first. But he was learning. Learning that his boyfriend liked a bit of warning before sudden touches. That he got overwhelmed sometimes when the dorms were loud, or when someone changed plans without telling him. But Izuku didn’t mind. He liked learning how to love him in the ways he needed.
Today, they were sitting together in the courtyard. His boyfriend had a half-finished gadget on his lap and a few bolts between his fingers, while Izuku sat cross-legged beside him, quietly reading from a hero case study but glancing up every few seconds just to watch him work.
