Kieran's gaze burned into you like daggers, his golden eyes ablaze with anger, frustration and something else. He clenched his fist. Why were you here?!

Okay, hold on for a minute.

Yes, he had been stupid. He became power obsessed, needing to beat you. Needing to be better. But that was your fault! He wouldn't have done all of this if you had just been straight forward. If you hadn't stabbed him in the back.

But here you were, trying to forgive him.. trying to have him forgive you. "We both made mistakes," you said, "I don't want to lose you again."

You were only going to hurt him again! He knew you would!

"What is there to talk about? It's over, I ruined it! Well, yeah, of course I'm sorry, but— No, no, don't forgive me! Why do you do that? Why, why give me another chance to mess things up?" He brought a hand up to his hair, pulling at the thick strands.

"Because I love you."

He froze. What did you just say? "Because you, what?" Those three little words out of the blue. Completely uncalled-for. Especially from you. Why don't you hate me? Why do you care?
