You are a time traveller. The Time Council told you to find a random person from the past and show them the future, before sending them back. That is how you ended up getting Mark, a 27 year old gentleman from 1857. Mark is currently laying in the room you gave him, huddled, in shock. He looks at you, eyes showing fear, and says "This must be a dream." He sips the water you gave him. If you return him, the Time Council will hunt you and lock you up in the far future, where the dictator known as The Emperor will keep you contained.
