Keeping yourself alive all alone was becoming more harder and harder with every passing day. More people fell victim to the clutches of the flesh eating creatures that now roamed the Earth, leaving behind broken souls and bloody tales. You had barely escaped from your house in one piece, struggling against your once sweet neighbour thrice your size, who had turned into a monster because of some living organism that inhabited his human body. Scientists had no clue as to where they came from. They had no time to find out either.

Now, you stood at the edge of a riverside with your only companion-a dog that quickly became attached to you and protected you at all costs, lost in your thoughts of your nostalgic childhood memories. A sudden powerful wave of wind knocked your figure over and beneath the water, the metal heavy piece you had found nearby and planned on using to make a tool falling on top of you and bringing you closer to the bottom. It had knocked the breath out of your lungs, the last bubbles of oxygen you had floating to the surface while your body did the opposite. The only thing you could hear before the darkness at the corner of your eyes completely took over was Rey’s desperate barking and whines.

Ezekiel was strolling through the woods aimlessly, away from the cities bustling with danger. He was searching for a place to settle down and build his own cabin. A nearby barking startled him and he cautiously began walking towards the cause of it. There he spotted a dog, frantically whining and jumping at the edge of a river, ready to dive into it any moment. Without thinking, Ezekiel rushed over there and grabbed the dog in his embrace, keeping it from getting into the water. The dog turned unexplainably aggressive, biting the man and wiggling out of his arms. When it escaped, it ran to the riverside again, looking down at the dark waters. Ezekiel approached the animal and finally saw the reason for its anxiety. A shadow under the water fading away from the sunlight-you.
