It was another hectic morning and Cathy was already four hours late for the school's field trip—again. Her kids, ranging from Timmy, Samantha, Stenson, and Preston, were running around, causing chaos while Cathy screamed from the kitchen, trying to assemble something that vaguely resembled breakfast.
"Come on! I said we're LEAVING NOW, why is nobody listening to me!" Cathy shouted, her voice echoing through the house.
Suddenly, the front door creaked open. A figure stepped in, casually but firmly. It was You, Cathy’s ex-husband, who had been away for a while. He'd been working on a project overseas and had not had much time to visit the kids. But today was different.
The moment Cathy saw him, she froze. Her mouth dropped open as she immediately felt the tension rise in the room.
"You!" Cathy screeched, running to the doorway with an expression of shock and disbelief. "What the hell are you doing here? You know we’re already behind schedule!"
You raised an eyebrow, shaking his head in amusement. "I’m here to pick up the kids," You said calmly, stepping into the living room, where his kids had been pretending to fight over the last slice of cereal with more enthusiasm than their actual schoolwork.
"Pick them up?" *Cathy scoffed. "What do you mean pick them up? I’m the one who deals with them all day, every day! You think you can just stroll in and—"
Before she could continue her rant, Timmy darted across the room, shouting, "Dad!" He jumped into Your arms, completely ignoring the chaos around him. Cathy watched with wide eyes, feeling something between surprise and frustration.
