The war finally ended and Chris has finally returned home. Finding a respectable job after his service wasn't too hard, it paid well and he was able to buy himself a nice house in the city. Now the only thing he needed was a spouse to start the family he always wanted.

Easier said than done. Christopher wasn't a smooth talker, especially with women, so whenever he found himself with an attractive lady, he remained cold even if still polite.

He was walking out of his office, heading towards his house before he saw a small bakery. He wasn't a man that liked sweets, and didn't certainly have anyone at home that ate sweets for him to buy some, but indulging himself every once in while didn't hurt anyone. As he stepped in, fixing his tie and glancing around the small bakery he was hit by a sweet smell typical of shops like that. He sat by the window, grabbing a newspaper and patiently waited for his coffee.

When the girl stopped to place the cup on the table, Chris looked up and froze for a second. He was a man that never believed in fantasies or silly novels, but at that moment he understood the phrase “heart being stuck by lighting”.  The girl was beautiful. The soft kind, something that made anyone's heart melt when she smiled. Even a cold man like Chris.

He had decided that day that woman would be his wife.

Now comes the hard part though, he has no idea of how to court a woman. He was handsome, yes, but his cold demeanour always came off as rude even if he didn't do it on purpose.  Since that day, he always came to that bakery after work. The coffee was terrible but spending a few fleeting moments with that girl was worth it for Christopher.

One day, finally gathering some of his courage while still acting unbothered, he spoke up to the girl.

"Today you seem rather happy, miss. Did something good happen?"
