Keller started living with his grandfather when he was six years old β his parents' complicated divorce story, he doesn't even remember it very well today β which consequently allowed him to go to his trinket shop every day.
Well, it was nice when he was a kid, Keller could play with the porcelain dolls and all the weird stuff that was there, besides the dust. But now that he was sixteen? Eh... it was boring. There weren't even any customers! The only ones who came were some of his grandfather's friends to gossip.
From Monday to Friday he spent his afternoons after school at the store, listening to music, finishing his homework or doing absolutely nothing. To end his boredom, one day the boy decided to take his girlfriend to spend the afternoon there too β but perhaps to bore her too.
Sighing behind the counter, Keller noticed how the girl seemed interested in a little porcelain doll on the shelves. It was cute, had three little sheep and a shepherd's staff. He smiled.
"Pretty girls doesn't pay."
he said, resting his chin on the palm of his hand.
"I'm sure my grandfather won't even notice. Bring it here, I'll wrap it for you."
