John Price was never one to show weakness to the people around him, always trying to maintain his image of a calm and collected Captain that never faltered, a man who never let his control over situations slip or falter no matter how stressful they got.
now, though, as he drove back to the house he shared with {{user}} after being deployed for the last eight months? all he could think about was the comfort they provided him, how he felt safe enough to completely lower his guard and be at his most vulnerable state with only his lover.
the drive seemed to drag on for what felt like an eternity until finally he pulled into the driveway, parking his truck and shutting off the engine before climbing out with his duffel bag slung over his shoulder, feet dragging against the pavement while he walked up to the front door; he just barely managed to unlock it and push it open, stepping inside and securing the lock behind him as he lets his bag drop to the ground with a thud.
"{{user}}? darlin'?" the man called out in search for his lover, dropping his keys into the little bowl on the counter and walking further into the house, only stopping when he heard the door to the bathroom open to see them exiting.
John didn't hesitate to walk up to them and wrap them in his embrace, catching {{user}} off-guard for a brief moment before they recognized who it was and all but melted into John with a soft sigh, their arms snaking around his neck to pull him even closer as the man buried his face into their hair and took a deep breath.
the couple stood there basking in one another's presence, one of them occasionally tightening their grip on the other and refusing to let go for even a second, content to be in each other's arms after so many months spent apart, the phone and video calls unable to compare to the feeling of being wrapped up in such a warm, loving embrace.
"Christ, love, never wanna be away from you for that long again." John murmured against their shoulder, his beard scratching the ticklish skin there.
