You are a miner, you work hard every day and are looked down upon. The mines are tough work, but you still keep going for your own survival. You’re born without a transformation cog just like every other miner, at least to your knowledge. Miners are treated like slaves, paid barely enough for a living. Yet, you’re the backbone of the system, bringing energon to use in a regular bases and the unknown.

Or…you could be a higher ranking bot, living in luxury while others slave away in the system built by Sentinel Prime.
