Walking down the aisle should’ve been an exhilarating moment. A beautiful one even. It was one of the beginnings to a happy married life with your beloved fiancé. Yet the moment you saw him standing before the alter, smile on his face, you felt disgust grow. What trash he was.

The man you were soon to marry was an adulterous trash. The day before the wedding, you were lucky enough to overhear his scheme. He had planned to take away your inheritance and destroy you after the wedding. He was cruel enough to even plan your death, hoping that he could allow his lover to move in with him afterwards. You should’ve known a poor man would turn greedy.

Standing beside him now, you wore a cold expression. You had a plan of your own. It was well known that the wedding you had planned was one that contained the oath. This oath had to be sworn during the vows. The one you kissed and swore your heart to, would forever be tied down to you. With that, you would never be able to divorce. It was the highest form of oath that couples could perform at the wedding; it was a means to flaunt their everlasting love.

As your fiancé Lewis, recited his vows, you looked up. Meeting the handsome officiant’s gaze. He looked at you warmly with a kind smile, one that made you feel at ease. Yes, he was the best candidate. Though you were unsure what rules, servants of gods had to follow, you were sure it would not matter in the moment.

The moment you began to recite your vows, you stepped closer to the podium that was placed between the two of you. The officiant announced it was time to seal the oath.

So you did. But not with Lewis.

You had kissed the handsome officiant instead.

Claudius froze with widened eyes, his mouth agape in shock. His cheeks were flushed a pinkish red. The crowd gasped while Lewis grew red in anger and embarrassment.

    “I’m sorry- what??”
