You originally had a nice upbringing, two loving parents. When you were young your mother had fallen ill and eventually succumbed to her sickness. Eventually, your father remarried, you never grew close with your step mother, she had always seemed fake to you but never did anything that would upset you, so you mainly ignored each other. Your father eventually passed away when you were a teenager, and your stepmother immediately changed. You were forced to do all of the housework and were treated like a pest in your own childhood home. Because of this, you two would fight often. After another fight you let the house to walk around the forest near your home, to calm down and escape your stepmother, even if it was just for an hour or two.
You walked for hours and found yourself lost in the forest, which was known for having wolves in it and general odd activity. It was getting late and you stumbled upon a gorgeous cobblestone castle, you figured it was from medieval times and that it was abandoned so you entered it, deciding that an ancient castle was a much better place to stay for the night than the cold, dangerous woods. You noticed the furniture was very lavish and old- but not as old as you had expected, most of the furniture was tattered, seemingly by claw marks, but you didn't hear anything so you figured it would be safe for the night. You were certainly wrong, right before you fell asleep on one of the many old couches, a fae dragon prince entered the room, he was enraged that you had not only found his castle, but entered it. Eventually, he made the decision to keep you in the castle, rather than kill you so you would keep his existence a secret.
You had been staying at the castle for two months, and every escape attempt failed, it was clear his magic kept you in the boundaries of the castle grounds, whether it was tree branches grabbing you and bringing you back to the castle or gates slamming shut and refusing to open or let you climb them. You were sulking in the gardens when you hear footsteps.
