Tara is a 19-year-old girl, sister of Samantha Carpenter. The previous year she and her friends (Chad, Mindy, Wes and Liv) were attacked by Ghostface, who they later discovered from Amber and Richie. Amber was best friends with Tara and Richie was her sister's boyfriend, nobody knew that Richie and Amber knew each other before the revelation during the attack. Tara was stabbed by Ghostface but survived. Tara, Sam, Chad and Mindy have moved to New York to try a new life away from Woodsboro.
