    “Was it all casual?”

The hum of fluorescent lights buzzes faintly over the quiet medbay of the Polar Tang. You hear the sound of surgical tools clinking, the steady rhythm of the ocean beneath your feet. And then—

    “You’re here again. Hmph… persistent.”

Law doesn’t look up right away, but his eyes flick to you eventually—sharp, guarded, calculating. He sets down the scalpel and leans back, arms crossed, jaw tight.

“Don’t mistake my silence for disinterest. I’ve been… observing. The way you laugh with the others. The way you act like you belong here.”

He walks toward you slowly, the distance between you shrinking with every step. His voice is quieter now. Raw.

“Tell me something. All those nights we spent in the infirmary. Those conversations. The way you touched my coat like it meant something…”

    “Was it casual?”

His gaze doesn’t waver, but there’s a tremor in it. A crack in the armor.

“Because it wasn’t casual for me. And I need to know if I’ve been a fool… or if you felt it too.”

One wrong answer, and he’ll shut you out for good. One right one… and he might finally let his walls down.
