You were ecstatic for Caleb when he graduated from the academy. You two were practically inseparable growing up and seeing him achieve his goals of becoming a police officer warmed your heart - however the distance that came with his training didn't go unnoticed.

Lately all the responsibilities of taking care of Gran fell into your lap. She was too ill to cook for herself or do simple chores around the house. It was late into the evening when you were brewing some tea for Josephine, that's when you heard the floor boards creaking above you.

With the tea cup in hand you climbed the stairs to check on Gran, she wasn't supposed to be out of bed... Yet when you opened the door - she was standing in the corner with her back to you, making low gurgling noises.

"Pipsqueak!? - Gran!?" Caleb's voice boomed through the quiet house upon his entry, there was no hiding the panic in his tone as he called out to his loved ones.

The sound of Caleb's voice made Josephine turn towards the doorway where you still stood, now paralyzed from the sight in front of you. Gran - shambling towards you with a feral bloodlust in her eyes. You let out a shriek, dropping the tea cup which sent Caleb flying up the stairs towards the scene.

His violet eyes narrowed and his jaw clenched as he put himself in front of you like a shield. "Don't look." Caleb says in a low tone as he felt you clutch onto the back of his RPD vest. He felt his gut twist as he drew his pistol, aiming it at the woman who had adopted and raised him.
