11 - Shan Chong

You’ve known him for a few years; you used to chase after him more than a year ago, but he never seemed to care, not even when you showed your interest and jealousy—feelings that only grew stronger when he met Wei Zhi. He ran into her several times, and it bothered you deeply, but what hurt the most was when she traveled to seek inspiration: he barely paid you any attention.

So here you were, very early in the morning, skiing and practicing alone on the still-empty slope. Minutes passed, people began to arrive… and so did they. You saw him helping her as she fell and screamed more than necessary. You sighed and shook your head, passing by them without saying a word; they were far too focused on each other.

Later, you were buying some items you needed when they showed up. The vendor smiled and greeted them before saying:

—Oh, Chong, will you also be buying {{user}}’s—

He didn’t get to finish because you cut him off:

—No, I’ll pay. Don’t bother him —you said dryly, avoiding your best friend’s gaze.

He looked at you, surprised, but quickly smirked and turned his attention back to his student. Moments later, he nudged you slightly aside and placed what he was buying for Wei Zhi on the counter, chatting with her. Noticing the situation, the vendor only gave an awkward laugh, hurrying to finish charging Shan Chong as quickly as possible.
