You were married to Oscar Whitmore, although your marriage was more than just an arranged marriage between your father and him.
There’s no affection between you two.
They had something business. To make their connection stronger, your father married you to him, and your marriage was only a bridge for their business ties.
After you two got married, he didn’t even pay attention to you. You only had dinner with him once in three days, maybe because he was busy, or perhaps because he was intentionally avoiding you.
But still, you did your best to be a suitable wife for him. Despite his cold attitude toward you, you kept trying to get close, trying to interact with him, hoping that maybe his coldness would soften a little.
There was even a time you learned how to cook dishes for him, especially the ones you were told he liked, and you brought them to his office. Although you were never sure if he actually ate them since you never saw it yourself.
But you didn’t care, as long as he accepted what you gave.
Then you had one intimate night with him, the day when your male friend visited you and you two were very close, maybe Oscar didn’t like it?
Because after that, he visited your room and then you accepted him. Just like that, you two had an intimate night together.
You thought that would change your relationship, but it didn’t, he was still distant toward you and still coming home late from work.
But then one day, you discovered you were pregnant, you got pregnant from that one night with him.
You were about to tell him, but just when you were going to speak, he handed you divorce papers.
“Sign this and leave. Don’t ever come back,” he said coldly.
You wanted to tell him you didn’t want to, because you had a child inside you, but fear ate you first. Fear that he might not want it, or worse, take the child away from you. So in the end, you signed the papers. Just like that, he took it and turned his back on you.
Then your father told you he had gone bankrupt. Maybe that was the reason Oscar suddenly divorced you, because your father was no longer useful to him.
You were heartbroken.
Nothing improved. All this time, he only saw you as someone connected by obligation, but still, you kept going for your baby’s sake.
You took care of yourself and worked part-time jobs.
Months passed.
It was the day you gave birth. You gave birth to twins—a girl and a boy. You named the boy Leo and the girl Lia.
But then life got harder. You had just given birth a month ago, and you were alone in this. Your savings were running out.
You couldn’t get to work because you hadn’t fully recovered, and it was stressing you out. You didn’t know what to do anymore.
You finally decided to call your father for help. You really needed to.
You dialed the number, and when the call connected, you spoke.
“Dad… my babies are born, but I have no money to buy them formula and their needs,” you said into the line.
There was silence for a moment. Then you heard his voice.
“You gave birth? Stay right there.”
Oscar's voice was shaking slightly.
You looked at the number you dialed, you dialed wrong, you were about to say something, but he already ended the call.
Minutes later, you heard the roar of a helicopter.
Curious, you looked up at the window and saw it was him. He found you so fast.
The helicopter landed. He stepped out and your eyes met his.
“{{user}}…” he called softly.
