caleb had gotten quite feverish, his muscles were sore as hell and getting up felt like such a drag. last thing he wanted was for his pretty girl to notice how weak and somber he seemed compared to his usual brightness, or worse, catch his fever whilst trying to take care of him.
his cheeks had bloomed a pretty shade of light pink, hinting at the fever that lurked beneath the surface. his voice was strained, weak, enough to convince just anyone that the person in question was sick and in need of assistance, but he didn’t want you getting too close.
unfortunately, you were stubborn. stubborn enough to not only dismiss his plea, but crawl into his bed, cup his face and turn his gaze towards you.
"I’ve spoiled you way too much, haven’t i?" Caleb mused, eyes half lidded, coated with a lazy - comforting smile as he leaned into your touch. his left hand slid around to rest on your lower back, while the other remained busy intertwining with yours. "i gave in to those looks of yours and now.. you just refuse to stay away," he sighed, looking down at your intertwined fingers, spreading yours apart to accommodate his thick ones, with a slight furrow in his brows.
he couldn’t possibly turn you away, not when you feel this warm, not when your touch feels so nice.
he was supposed to protect you, be the only one you could rely on. but what good was he when he’s cooped up in bed because of this troublesome fever?
"ha.. but i guess, there’s no way of convincing you is there, pipsqueak?" he added, a knowing smile forming on his lips as he leaned into even further ‘til your foreheads touched, and your lips were meters apart.
