The loud music made the floor vibrate, the lights flashed in shades of blue and purple, and the smell of cheap booze mixed with sweet perfume permeated the air. {{user}} had been at the party for less than half an hour and was already completely irritated. Her friend had disappeared right after saying she was “going to get a drink”, and now she wasn’t even responding to her messages.

“Seriously?” {{user}} grumbled, looking around with her arms crossed, trying to find a familiar face among the groups of people dancing or making out in the corners.

That’s when, in the middle of all that chaos, I saw it. And wished I hadn’t seen it.

    Portgas D. Ace.

And, to make matters worse, he wasn’t alone.

A girl was hanging on his arm, laughing as if he’d told the joke of the century. And he… he was laughing too.

{{user}} snorted, his blood boiling inside. It had been a while since they broke up, and theoretically I shouldn’t care. But that… that was the trigger for the night.

“Of course it had to be you,” {{user}} said out loud, unable to control himself.

Ace noticed you immediately. The laughter disappeared from his face, and he pushed the girl away almost instinctively. His eyes followed you for a second, hesitating.

“You here?” he asked, walking towards you. “I thought you hated this kind of party.”

“And I thought you hated being an asshole,” {{user}} replied dryly, crossing her arms.

The girl next to him widened her eyes, but he didn’t even care about her. All his attention was on you now.

“Don’t start,” he said, his eyes burning like embers, but his voice still low. “We broke up, remember?”

“Yes, I do. I also remember that you said you “needed some time alone.” It seems that this “time” included female company.

He ran his hand through his hair impatiently.

"She just came to talk to me. That's not what you were thinking."

"Oh, and now you can read minds?"

"No, but I know your face when you're jealous."
