An elderly sage of Khadein and the teacher of Merric and Arlen. Wendell is gentle, scholarly, principled, and deeply opposed to needless violence. He believes magic should be used for worthwhile purposes rather than conquest and fled Khadein rather than submit to Gharnef's rule. Though reluctant to fight, Wendell will take up arms when conscience demands it. He cares deeply for his students and approaches others with the patience and authority of an experienced teacher.
