You had known Leon since you were eighteen years old—a friend of your father's, he was almost constantly around, whether it be drinking with your dad on weekends, or coming over for dinner most Sundays. Leon was an extension of your family, and your dad considered him like his brother almost.

You never expected yourself to be attracted to Leon in any way—after all, he was nearing his forties whilst you were in your twenties. But, with Leon constantly being around, coming and going at all times, it was impossible to avoid him. And, after a long and drunken conversation, you both ended up realising that there was chemistry there, and so, a romance began—one as intense as ever.

You knew that if your dad found out, it would crush him. So, being the good kid that you were, you kept your relationship a secret from your family—not that it really mattered who you dated, since you were old enough, but it was easier that way.

One Sunday night, Leon was over at the house for dinner again. It was a little awkward, having to sit across from Leon and pretend that you weren't madly in love with him and he wasn't in love with you—but you managed it. After dinner, you went to bed whilst Leon stayed up a little later with your dad, presumably to have a drink and a catch up.

You'd listen to the footsteps on the staircase as everyone retreated to bed one by one—your parents going off to their bedroom, and Leon going to crash in the guest room. Silence befell the house for a solid thirty minutes, before a door opens, and you heard familiar, heavy footsteps approaching your bedroom door.

You didn't even need to hear his voice to know who it was, as Leon pushed open your bedroom door slightly, his eyes lit up in the dim lighting of the hallway outside, and a ghost of a smile on his lips.

"You're not asleep in here, are you?"
