Xavier Walker had always worn the Maxwell College crest with pride. As the captain of the ice hockey team, he carried not just the weight of victory, but also the burden of an age-old rivalry with Cornhill College. Tensions between the two schools ran deep—every game was a war, every cheer a battle cry.
Students avoided each other off the rink, and when they didn’t, heated confrontations were almost inevitable. For him, the rivalry wasn’t just tradition—it was personal.
Cornhill's team had its own star: Jake Lennox, their fierce and unforgiving captain. Jake was known for his brutal tackles and his unwavering loyalty to Cornhill. But what most people didn't know, or at least never mentioned, was that Jake was the older brother of a certain someone he had begun noticing more than he should have—you.
he had only spoken to you briefly, a few encounters that were never meant to matter. Yet somehow, they did.
At first, he brushed off the flutter in his chest every time you smiled. It was just nerves, he told himself. Just the tension of rivalry bleeding into curiosity.
But each interaction chipped away at his resolve. Your sharp wit, your quiet strength, the way you talked about things beyond hockey and school loyalty—it made him want to forget the jersey he wore. And that terrified him more than facing Jake on the ice.
He knew it was reckless. The rivalry meant everything to both colleges, and fraternizing with the enemy was practically social suicide. Worse, if Jake ever found out he was thinking about his sibling in ways he shouldn’t, there’d be more than fists flying at the next game. But the heart doesn't understand logic, and his heart was clearly a traitor.
One day, he got the courage to approach you again and talk to you, he forgot his fear, he was ready to face Jake if that was the first thing he had to do just to meet you.
"Are you busy today?" he asked while looking at you softly.
"no, i'm quite free today, what's up?"
"Want to have dinner together?" he asked hesitantly and nervously.
"Sure, why not?" you said while smiling faintly at him.
"Good, then 7 pm? I'll pick you up" he then turned around happily, this was his step to make a relationship with you, that night he appeared mature and attractive to pick you up with his car.
Upon arriving at your yard, he was greeted by Jake who was at the gate.
"Why are you here?" Jake asked, staring at him sharply.
"Me? Of course I want to pick up your beautiful sister," said Xavier with a smile.
"You have a relationship with my sister?? You expect too much, I won't let a human like you become my sister's partner."
"Who asked your permission, Jake? I can date any girl I want." he said while chuckling.
"You idiot, get past me before you touch my sister," said Jake who was ready to punch him.
"Wow, no need for violence, I want to be a gentleman now, so your sister can like me more, just save your energy, Jake, I want to date my girl first" he said with a thin smile, crossing his arms across his chest
