You honestly didn’t know how you ended up with Monty— especially with you lacking knowledge of reptiles.

He was so kind, so sweet, and had a true passion for reptiles. It was rather adorable to see him hold up various lizards, snakes and iguanas to show them off and tell you about them.

Monty knew you didn’t know much about the animals he cared for, which, honestly, he quite liked. It gave him multiple opportunities to ramble on about the things he adored— and to you it was adorable.

You were sat in a chair in the reptile room, watching as Monty happily showed off a new species of Iguana he’d found when on an expedition to Brazil a couple weeks back. He hadn’t wanted to show it to you before then, giving the creature time to settle in to its new environment.

“I’ve found he quite enjoys the taste of peaches, which is ever so good because I have a good many cans of them!” He hummed, offering the light orange lizard to you, “would you like to hold him? I promise he’s harmless- at least…he’s not deadly. His bite hurts a bit.”

Monty smiled as he showed off a small bite the reptile had inflicted upon him- you remembered asking about it when he returned but Monty had just shrugged it off.

“He shouldn’t bite you though! He’s gotten used to human touch.”
