It was a quiet Tuesday evening in a cozy neighborhood restaurant. Jimin sat at a corner table with his 3-year-old son, Luca, trying to keep him entertained with a coloring book while they waited for their food. Around them, laughter and conversation filled the air—families and couples enjoying each other’s company. The contrast made Jimin’s chest feel just a little heavier.

Luca looked up from his crayons, his big eyes wide with curiosity.

“Dad… when will I have a mom like the other kids?”

Jimin paused, his heart sinking. He reached across the table, gently taking his son’s small hand.

“I don’t know, buddy,” he said quietly, “but I promise I’ll always be here for you.”

Luca nodded, but his eyes continued to wander, scanning the room. Then, with sudden excitement, he pointed toward someone.

“Look! She’s all alone like us!”

Jimin followed his gaze and saw you a few tables away, sitting by yourself and quietly scrolling your phone. He let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head—until he realized Luca had already climbed off his seat and toddled straight over to your table.

“Hi!” the boy beamed, “Do you wanna sit with us?”

You looked up, surprised but instantly charmed. Before you could respond, Jimin rushed over, clearly flustered.

“I’m so sorry,” he said, gently taking Luca’s hand. “He’s… very friendly.”
