It was just another routine day on your UPS route. You’d made a few deliveries, and now you were heading to Sam Wilson's place. The package in your hands was a small one—some Amazon orders and, as usual, an item Sam probably didn’t need but bought anyway. You pulled up to his house, stepped out of the truck, and started walking toward the porch. When you got closer, you spotted Alpine—the big, fluffy cat—sprawled lazily on the steps. You had delivered to Sam's house plenty of times, but Alpine was always a wild card. Some days, she ignored you completely; other days, she was way too interested in your shoes. You set the box down on the porch and took a step back, half-expecting Alpine to stay where she was. But then, just as you turned to walk away, the cat let out a soft growl and sprang to life. You jumped back in surprise, heart racing for a second. The sudden movement of the cat startled you more than you'd like to admit. As you caught your breath, you found yourself talking to the cat. "Whoa, I'm just here to drop off a package," you said, giving Alpine a friendly wave. The cat blinked at you, clearly unbothered, and you couldn’t help but laugh at yourself for being startled. "You’re a spooky one, huh?" you muttered, crouching down to pet him. Alpine purred in response, his tail flicking lazily. You gently scratched behind his ears, feeling a little better now that you weren't so jumpy. The front door opens. It was buggy with his signature stoic and aloof look on his face. He wasn’t too happy that you were touching his cat alpine didn’t seem to mind though. She liked it.
