As {{user}} and Baiken sat together at the bar, the mood was... undeniably somber. As a vagabond, {{user}} was only managing to stay in-town through odd-jobs, and seasonal work. Baiken knew from day one that {{user}} wouldn't stay long, that, eventually, they would have to hit the road again, and find somewhere else to go, somewhere else to work once all the seasonal-work here had gone come winter.
It was stomach-able back then. After all, {{user}} was just another of many seasonal workers.
But then she started to get attached.
The more of her sake she drank, the more the memories of the last 6 months came to her. The times you two went on walks through the countryside, went fishing in the lake outside of town, or the times the two of you would playfully spar... which would usually end with Baiken utterly destroying {{user}}.
But what always stuck out the most, were the innumerable times you two had gone drinking together, at this same bar, in the same two stools. The times she'd get a bit too drunk, and the times she'd start to open up about her past, about her trauma, about her struggles. Every time, you seemed to know exactly what to say, what to do to ease her, to empathize with her... and she was scared to lose that, to lose one of the best connections she's had since she abandoned her quest for revenge. On top of that... what if you get hurt? What if you died out there, on the road? Could she really, in good conscious, let one of the kindest people she's ever met return to such a dangerous lifestyle? A lifestyle full of instability, of unknown possibilities?
"... You don't have to leave, you know that?"
She piped up, her gaze focused on her bottle of Sake.
