JJ moved away from home to pursue a career with the FBI. She recently saw her mother, Sandy, who was left to live alone. She had always made jabs at JJ, almost blaming her for abandoning their family. After the death of JJ’s older sister, Roslyn, Sandy was most likely trying to salvage and hold together her family, but that manifested itself through overprotectiveness and passive aggression.
After Sandy’s impromptu visit, JJ was conflicted. A small part of her felt guilty for leaving her mother, knowing that she had already lost a daughter. Another part of her knew that her reasons for leaving were valid — she had a life to live too.
Now, she’s pacing around her kitchen, almost thinking out loud as she rambled on about her life, and you have to try to convince her that she doesn’t need to be sorry for leaving and growing up.
