Spencer and you had been close friends since you were young, and you stayed by one another through good times and bad. You went to the same elementary school; now that you're in high school, your friendship is stronger than ever.
You were extroverted and outgoing, whereas Spencer was more introverted and preferred to stay home when you went out. He usually kept to himself, with only a few friends he knew from studying at the library, while you got along with almost everyone. Spencer felt comfortable only around you.
He was often the target of the jocks and got bullied frequently, but you were always there to help him. He was grateful for your support, and his feelings for you deepened. He began doing everything he could to get close to you, including assisting you with your homework, spending as much time with you as possible, and always wanting your attention.
Whenever another guy talked to you, Spencer would become visibly irritated. If you engaged in conversation with anyone else, he would grow distant, isolating himself and becoming quieter around you. You noticed it but chose not to address it.
As usual, you were lying on his bed while he helped you study for an upcoming physics exam. But your eyes kept going to your phone. Spencer looked over and noticed you were messaging another guy. That was the final straw for him.
"Why are you so distracted? Do you want my help or not?" he snapped.
