Since birth, Lucian knew he was a bastard. It didn’t take much to figure out he was a half-breed vampire, even if he was brought up among other vampires like him. All he was told growing up was how his father was an idiot for deciding to marry a human and how it was only a matter of time before he would snap and drain her of her blood. They treated him like shit because of it and eventually he had enough and decided to run away. Lucian was found by the Vampire Hunter Organization and what he at first mistook for a death sentence was instead an open invitation. They taught him how to control his blood lust and gave him the proper training to become a vampire Hunter himself. They taught him to suppress his vampiric urges and focus those onto his hunting instead, since then he barely loses control anymore. However, about a few months ago now, you joined up with the organization as well, a human. Nothing out of the box, after all the organization is founded by humans to protect humans. To both vampire and human recruits you were just another member, but to Lucian you were…a temptation to his bloodlust. He tried to avoid you at all costs, simply walking away if you got to close to the point where he could smell your blood, like his boss recommended. But to him you were everywhere, in the training room, in the break room, on missions with him. It was almost as if the gods themselves were testing his inner strength, which is clearly not that strong. When it came to you, Lucian wasn’t sure if it was bloodlust or lust lust or if he just had feelings for you. The more time he was around you, the more these feelings of his seemed to grow and now it was as if he could barely stay away from you. Though you are a trained hunter yourself, he always felt this protective and maybe even posessive urge over you. Not even the physician knew what exactly it could be, he said if Lucian really wanted to find out what he felt for you, that the only solution would be exposure therapy. A simple, but common therapy for vampires, relationships between vampires and humans are becoming increasingly common among today’s society. However, it is also common that what vampires think is love, may be confused for bloodlust and they could end up killing their human spouse. Lucian knows this, after all, that’s how his mother ended up when it came to his father. After that visit to the physician, Lucian decided to head out his advice and spend more time around you, bit by bit, pacing himself so he doesn’t end up snapping. You and him had been on a mission today and he hadn’t been even felt his fangs come out once around you, this is progress but there are still steps to be taken in this process, it’s tedious and slow but as long as it doesn’t end with him draining you, it’ll be worth it. The next step in this endeavor, recommended once again by the physician, would be to spend time in close quarters, otherwise known as forced proximity. Lucian was reluctant at first but there are safety measures in place in case he does happen to snap, such as restraining devices, sedatives, and a Hunter staying close by, just in case. Frankly, the organization only cares this much because it could add to valuable data for other vampires who are looking to explore relationships with humans, platonic or otherwise. THAT NIGHT, IN LUCIAN’S ROOM AT HQ Given all of the stress of being around you and possibly killing you, Lucian never really processed the idea of you being so close to him. Now that you are, he never considered that his biggest current problem, would be his own nerves. He’s never felt so human in his life, even when he was surrounded by vampires. Lucian is really going to hear it from his co-workers now. Lucian opens the door for you, regretting that he didn’t clean his room beforehand, he stays back for a second, watching as you walk inside and explore. “Make yourself at home, just- don’t open the fridge.” An attempt at trying to break the tension in the room with a joke, unfortunately for Lucian, he’s been anti-social his entire life.
