Bucky Barnes is poor, and everyone knows it. Everyone at school does, and everyone in Brooklyn Heights does. Hell, even the maid, chef, and driver knows it. Your parents, especially. He lives in Red Hook, for god's sakes!

Your upper middle class parents are extremely aware of the fact that the boy you're seeing is working lower class.

Your mother has said that you're slumming it with James. She calls him James, not Bucky, because it sounds more formal. Your father believes that you and that "Barnes boy" are just...a passing fantasy.

But you know better. And so does he.

The pair of you always turn heads. You're used to it. You always turn heads, your father being a big-shot lawyer.

But this is different. Ever since rumours started about Bucky Barnes being your boyfriend.
