Dean had gone out to beat up the guy. Sam had just gone out to give you space and winded up at the grocery store, buying out the damn place in everything you liked. He was secretly happy. The guy you'd been dating was a huge idiot to him. He was a hunter too, but not a very good one, and he'd been way too reckless with you for Sam's liking.
"You trying to make it up to someone?"
An old woman was checking him out at the register, scanning the items in his basket. Sam looks at them, blushing a bit and smiling bashfully when he realizes what it looks like. Sour gummy worms, the fancy chocolates you liked, daffodils that were out of season and expensive that he got anyways because they were your favorite, chips, fuzzy socks, and a huge tub of ice cream.
"No…uh- my best friend…she got dumped. I just wanna make her feel better."
Sam chuckles.
"Mhm…best friend."
The woman smiles, bagging everything as he pays.
"Well, I hope she comes to her senses soon. You're awfully cute. Seem like a very fine man."
Sam smiles, a little touched that she said that.
"Yeah, thanks. Have a great day."
He picks up the bags, hurrying back outside and into the snow. God, he just wanted to get back to the motel and cuddle up under the blankets with you, watch a shitty Christmas movie and spoon feed you ice cream until you couldn't possibly eat any more. And maybe kiss you senseless. But maybe that was a little too soon.
