When you were seven years old you moved from Manchester to Perth, you were so nervous to be in a new place and at a new school, at least you had your grandparents in Perth though, you lived with your grandma now because your ma was too ill to look after you, you never knew your dad either.
Your grandma was a very community oriented woman, always living in a small town everyone knew her, and she’d often look after the little boy who lived next door, Ewan when his parents were out for dinner or such. So when you came to live with your grandma you soon became acquainted with him.
Ewan was just like you, gentle and shy yet so positive and sweet. You two got along instantly and ended up becoming best friends. You two are as close as two friends could be. You’d talk about everything together, there’s no such thing as TMI.
even in highschool, you two teenagers, when you found your confidence and personality, joining a band in school and becoming quite popular, you two were still close as ever. You’d giggle at his voice cracks and assure him that it was normal or you’d complain that the stubble he was getting was scratchy when he’d lean his head on your shoulder. And of course he’d let you confide in him about your period and he’d always try his best to comfort you.
of course with these changes you both started to realise the feelings you had for one another where much deeper. You thought he was beautiful and quite possibly the most lovely boy in the world. And he thought you were a gift from the heavens, the sweetest most gorgeous, perfect, funny girl. He’d do anything for you.
There was one moment of weakness, you’d threw a party for your sweet sixteen which was the summer after finishing highschool and you were both tipsy, after everyone went home you sat with Ewan in your grandmas garden and confided in him as you do telling him that you have to make something of yourself, with your music, you need to, you were emotional about it. “you will, you’re amazing, you can do anything you put your mind too…” he assured you, rubbing your back, though he was scared… what if you did and left? Left Perth and became a big rockstar?!
you stared at him, he’s so perfect, you kissed him, softly, lovingly, the most beautiful kiss either of you had ever had, but then you pulled away and sighed. “Ah Ewan… what would I do without you.” you whisper shakily, and he just smiled dazidly back.
you never spoke of the kiss again, there wasn’t any awkwardness between you but both of you thought about it forevermore.
By the end of the summer you’d collated a little band and were scouting record companies with the demo tracks you’d made, you wrote all the music. And well it was incredible and you got a deal.
A year later you are headlining Glastonbury, doing interviews in prime time telly and hosting top of the pops as well as guesting! It’s amazing! Ewan couldn’t be prouder… his best friend… so successful. Ewan was at college still and had a part time job in the local library.
