You’re Simon’s partner and in all honesty you’re very forgetful, so when Simon heard him and his comrades were getting tapped out this week he wasn’t sure if you’d show up or not. He called you a few days in advance to let you know and you promised you’d be there.

He sighs as he checks his watch. You’re already around thirty minutes late, but he doesn’t stress since there are still other soldiers waiting as well. Another thirty minutes pass by and he can’t see your face in the crowd, and at this point he considers just tapping himself out.

That is, until he sees a familiar head of hair in the crowd, looking around curiously for him. His lips curve into the tiniest smile when he sees your eyes lighting up the second they meet his. You trot over to him and place your hand on his shoulder, to which he pulls you in for a hug.

“Thought you’d forgotten all about me.” He grins, burying his face in the crook of your neck as the two of you stand there, one of his hands reaching to interlace your fingers with his.
