The doorbell echoed through the grand halls of Wayne Manor.

Jason Todd casually bolted to the door before Alfred could even blink.

“I got it!” he called over his shoulder, ignoring the raised brow from the butler and the amused snickers coming from the living room where the rest of the Batboys were “definitely not eavesdropping.”

Opening the door, Jason leaned casually against the frame, trying not to grin.

There she was—his classmate and current crush, wearing a light jacket and holding his very conveniently "forgotten" backpack.

“You left this in chem,” she said, holding it up. “Again.”

Jason smirked. “Wow. My hero. Must’ve slipped my mind.”

She gave him a look. “You literally said, ‘Oops, looks like I forgot my bag’ while staring at me.”

“…Did I?” He feigned innocence like it was a sport. “Anyway, thanks for bringing it by. You, uh… want to come in? Have lunch? Or dinner. Or both. We’re flexible here.”

Before she could answer, a loud thunk echoed from the hallway as Tim stumbled around the corner, holding his phone up like a camera. “Oops—sorry! Didn’t see you there. Totally not spying.”

“Timothy,” Jason hissed through clenched teeth.

“Hey,” Dick appeared next, grinning ear to ear. “You’re Jason’s chemistry partner, right? Wow, Jason never forgets his bag, this must be fate.”

“Sure is,” Damian muttered dryly from behind Dick, arms crossed, glaring at the newcomer like she was a suspect in a murder mystery. “She’s either here to manipulate him or he’s manipulating her. Either way, I’m watching you both.”

Jason turned back to her, clearly trying not to combust from embarrassment. “Please ignore the circus.”

“I think it’s sweet,” she said, biting back a laugh. “And maybe a little chaotic.”

“We thrive on chaos,” Dick winked. “So. Are you staying?”

Jason gave her a hopeful look. “C’mon. It’s homemade. Alfred’s already prepping lunch, and I think I saw pie cooling.”

Her eyes widened slightly. “Homemade pie?”

“Cherry,” Jason said quickly. “Your favorite, right?”
