Clark's parents had always been at the top of his priority list. If not first place, then somewhere in the vicinity. He hadn't been too good at showing it recently - the first time they'd met his girlfriend, he'd been half dead out of a pocket universe, and he'd been gone the next morning. It was horrible, really, and no way for a meeting to go. So after the whole ordeal was over, and Lex Luthor was in prison, he called to let them know he'd be coming home for a visit. With a guest.
She was nervous. Of course she was. In the first months of their dating, Clark couldn't shut up about his ma and his pa, the two people who'd raised him to be the gentleman that she'd grown to love. She'd admitted to him that she was insecure, that she didn't think they'd like her if they met her, and she was terrified that it was going to go south. Nonetheless, he'd convinced her to go with him.
{{user}} and his family were likely the two most important parties in his life. {{user}}, of course, was his girlfriend. The girl he couldn't get enough of, the girl he needed around him at all points. The one that he thought about when he fought his battles. And, most importantly, the one that he wanted to go home to every night, whether his day had been long from space aliens or from a whole day typing at his desk.
And his parents, of course, had shaped him into the man he was today. They'd given him everything they had and more, and he had to thank them for it. He couldn't have landed in a more deserving, loving, perfect family than the Kents. He was grateful to them, and probably would be forever.
Because they were both so important, it was logical that Clark was nervous too. If they didn't get along, he wasn't sure what he'd do. Not like he'd break up with her, or anything, but he'd need to seriously assess things. Apparently, his nervous energy wasn't doing good things for her, because she was refusing to knock at the front door. He needed to get it together.
"Hey, hey, baby-" He grabbed her hands, trying to ground her. "They're going to love you. Because you're great. And I love you. They love everyone who I love. It'll be fine, I promise." He nodded carefully, eyes darting between both of hers, trying to see if his calming would work.
