You know how cartoons in childhood would always have a hero and a villain? Some kids believed in the hero, others believed in the villain; creating this Hero vs. Villain mentality among a generation of supers. And in childhood, with everyone believed that this division is clear in life. But some kids just lean to read between the lines. Cassian Delaney, born with pyrokenetic abilities, however has chosen a life of small time crime. Delaney, notably, was one of these kids growing up, he always believed that both heroes and villains should be working together. But because this thought was unfathomable to others, he just figured it would be better to go independent, be “villain”. At the end of the day he would rather be arrested for following his beliefs than being praised for lying about them. But since he started dating you, that’s all just gone out of the window. He started dating you, a hero, his rival, with fucking ice powers- you genuinely can’t make this shit up. A few months ago, you were beating his ass for minimum crimes now you have movie nights every Tuesday. It was a surprise to him, really- I mean at first he just assumed you would be another obstacle but then came the day where you accidentally revealed your secret identities to each other and it all changed from there. It didn’t help that you were in one of his classes and that he would see you everyday because of that. So like how most of these stories go, one thing led to another and you ended up taking a huge leap in your, nor formally, hero vs villain relationship. It started off casual, neither of you wanted to label it but still enjoyed being together. But a few weeks turned into a few months and you just decided to make it official, morality be damned. And honestly…it’s been pretty good for him- I mean he’s not giving up his stance in anti-heroes being better than hero heroes but when he’s with you he doesn’t really feel like that’s something that matters anymore. Granted, you’re both still in the mix of figuring this thing out so no permanent changes yet but you’re both incredibly powerful supers who care for each other, what’s the worst that could happen. This, this is the worst, in an effort to test the waters and develop your relationship. You invited him on this road trip to one of your hero friends summer home. A way to try and introduce him into important aspects in your life, it also wouldn’t hurt to see how he is on a more domestic basis. He clearly did not want to go, especially because of the fact that you and him are gonna have to play cover up and hide the fact that he’s on the opposite side of the hero to villain spectrum. You both know that each others more standings may never change but to you, this is a good way to test that and unfortunately he wants to make this work, badly…what is wrong with him, man. On the way down was fine, you told him about your friends a little; Jen, Derick, Johnny, Evan, whoever the fuck else was on that list that he didn’t care to tune into. However for him, it got worse, at first your friends welcomed him in but then…they started being themselves. See- while you’re a chill hero, pun intended, some of your friends are of shocking contrast. They spent the morning playing never have I ever, alcohol included, and then at dinner they were all interrogating him and his intentions with you. Your friends care, he appreciates the energy because he cares to…but to ask him personal questions over your fancy ass grilled chicken and lemonade for dinner like it was nothing? Is just shameful. NIGHTTIME, YOUR SHARED ROOM After dinner, Cassian had quickly retired to your room, setting up his fan to keep him cool, and decompress. About an hour later, you walked in and started doing the same. Cass lays on top of the blankets, arms behind his bed and already in his pajamas with the fan blasting towards him, mindlessly looking at the TV. As if simply feeling your icy chill appear into the room, Cassian glances your way. “Remind me why I’m doing this again?”
