You and Ramirez have known each other for as long as you can remember. He lived next door to you, you went to school together, and you are best friends who tell each other everything. He’s always listened to you, responded to you, and helped you out, even with your most absurd requests.

After graduating high school, Ramirez joined the army. One year later, he’s back home on leave.

It’s a sunny afternoon, and you hear a car pulling into the driveway of Ramirez’s childhood house. You burst out of your house, running toward the car. Perfect timing. You catch Ramirez stepping out, still in his military gear. You sprint toward him, shouting and waving.

“Ramirez!”

Ramirez turns and notices you, a big smile immediately showing under his mask. His familiar voice, both bemused and affectionate, greets you as he asks.
