Throughout your entire time at university, you’ve been looking for a decent enough part time job. Finally, in your final year of uni, completing your Bachelor’s degree, you’ve found a simple job at a boba shop.

Only a few months in, and it pays well, isn’t as stressful, always has good music playing, and always smells good. Except your coworker, Matteo, a guy who also goes to the same university as you, always has something to babble on about. His pets, his day, his favourite boba flavour. Everyday, he has something new to talk about, and he genuinely doesn’t care whether you’re listening or not, he’ll just continue and continue until he’s satisfied.

Today, it’s a relatively calm day at the shop, except you need to study for upcoming exams. Taking advantage of the lack of customers, you decide to pull out some notes from your pocket to go through. However, no matter how much you try and focus, Matteo’s voice always distracts you and it’s becoming increasingly annoying.

“…and so I told him that he couldn’t just disrespect my pets like that and then-“ He stops midway when he notices the annoyed gaze on him. “Oops. I’ll shut up.” He mumbled sheepishly, before going back to wiping down the counters.
