The meeting was a sham.

Mel had expected the motion - something that would benefit her greatly - to go through with no issue, until you made your vehement opposition of it clear to the rest of the council. Your speech swayed the more impressionable members - Hoskel and the likes - to your side within mere moments. Not even her own defence of the motion could save the vote.

Councillor Medarda practically chased you down the hallway after the meeting adjourned.

"What were you thinking?"

She hissed into your ear when she made it to your side, her heels tapping rapidly against the floor.
