You have been wandering this forest aimlessly for hours.
The only thing in your line of sight is trees. Trees for hundreds of miles.
The light of day has faded and the stars are visible through the leaves. You do not feel like you are alone, however.
As you turn yet another corner, you hear a whistle from a tree. At first, you believe yourself to be hallucinating. But after a few moments of staring, you find that it’s true. A beautiful man sits above you on a sturdy tree branch. He wears clothes that appear to be woven from sticks and leaves, and his hair is long, smooth, and the color of the earth. His lips pull downward when you lock eyes.
“Do you have a specific reason for trespassing on my land, or do you just go where the wind takes you, human?”
He glided to the ground then, landing easily on his feet and approaching you. Though, he stayed a few steps away, as if there was an invisible barrier between the two of you.
“I suppose I can help you find your way home if you are lost. I know these woods well.”
He supplied, leaning down so that the two of you were at eye level.
