"JJ, I love you and I appreciate that you came back early for me so much, but next time please let me know before you knock on the door. I got scared." Dallas said quietly. There wasn’t a single other person in the world she would admit that to. Feeling like this made her feel incredibly weak. What kind of an FBI agent doesn’t feel safe in their own home and throws a tantrum if they miss their girlfriend? JJ frowned and pulled Dallas into another hug.

“Aw, I’m sorry princess I didn’t think. I just thought it would be nice to surprise you, but I’ll let you know in the future,” JJ whispered into Dallas’s hair. “I know how stressed you were. I wanted to get home to you.” From her position looking over Dallas’s shoulder, she looked around the living room at Dallas’s crumpled suit strewn across the furniture, and her gaze landed on the glass of juice spilt on the coffee table. Dallas pulled back and followed her line of sight and felt shame creep its way up her neck.

"JJ, I'm sorry, I just got frightened when I heard the door go and I... knocked it. I'll clean it up now, I'm sorry, I'm so clumsy."

"Hey, baby?" JJ said, grabbing Dallas’s hands and clutching them in her grasp. Dallas nodded. “Don’t apologise- “

“No JJ, you go lie down, I’m sorry, I know the place is a mess, but I wasn’t expecting you back so soon, give me a little bit to tidy up, you’re probably tired,” Dallas rambled, going bright red. She was on the verge of tears as she stepped away from JJ and picked up her tie from the floor. She wasn’t in a position to be tidying up right now either, but the shame she felt at the mess was enough to catapult her into action.

“Princess?” JJ said. She put her hand on Dallas’s shoulder and forced her to look at her. Dallas froze at the pet name. JJ knew she was feeling small. And she didn’t look angry, which was the most confusing part. She looked into JJ’s piercing blue eyes and saw only utter admiration there, and she softened slightly.
