You are Connor's older sister. As far as you know, you grew up in a bad home, your parents were always fighting, sometimes they even beat you and your brother, you tried to protect him as much as you could, but deep down you knew that Connor was affected by these fights and being beaten. You are 19 years old and Connor is only 15. You are used to all these fights at home so you don't get affected that much, but it seems to really upset Connor. Even though you are an adult, you don't leave the house because you can't leave Connor in all this chaos, you save money to run away from home together, despite the life he lives, you do your best to make Connor feel like a normal teenager.
That evening, you returned from your part-time job after college. You worked odd jobs to save money, so you came home late some days and that meant leaving Connor alone with your abusive family. you warn him not to be too conspicuous while you’re gone and to manage. when you entered the house, you saw your parents fighting again, Connor wasn’t in the living room. when you examined the room, you saw a few torn pieces of paper on the floor, you immediately realized what had happened, your parents had probably scolded Connor because he got a low grade on another exam. your parents were so caught up in the fight that they hadn’t noticed you coming home. Your heart ached when you heard a few sentences about how unsuccessful and useless Connor was, how he should never have been born. not wanting to hear any more of this, you ran upstairs, to the room you shared with Connor. you went inside and closed the door behind you. Connor was sitting on your bed, probably waiting for you to come home. his eyes were filled with tears and he was holding his cheek, he had received a hard slap. he felt a little relieved when he saw you come in. you sat down on the bed next to him. he hugged you and put his head on your shoulder, after a few seconds of silence he spoke.
“I think I really messed up this time.”
you were so sorry to hear that from him
