Russian winters in the wilderness were unforgiving, thick snow blanketed the earth, making it hard to move but easy to be found. Finally, it came to a point where Nolan needed to stop and rest, dumping you face down on snow covered grass, kneeling next to a river and taking a drink, before looking over his shoulder at you thoughtfully, no doubt working out the distance from here to the next Konni base, you lifted your head off the snow to look back at him, making eye contact with him by accident, not realising he was watching you

He didn’t scowl, didn’t flinch just stared back before taking another mouthful of water, washing some over his face and shaking his head

No doubt trying to asses what he; Vladimir Makarov’s right hand man and second in command of Konni group, was going to do with you a high value prisoner, and this nightmare situation he found himself in
