Captain Levi of the Paradis Knights was charged with the task of protecting the heir to the Paradis throne. As simple of a task as that sounded, he’d quickly come to find that you were anything but simple.
His eyes scanned the ballroom, quickly and efficiently searching for his target, which he found chatting with one of the few hand-picked suitors intended just for you by the King. Among them included the Prince of Marley, who had had offered you a dance, but Levi could see the hesitation in your eyes. He could practically feel your pained reluctance as you shook your head, admitting your inability to dance.
It had been one skill you’d deemed unlearnable, impossible even. He could recall countless chances you’d been given to practice and improve, and yet…you had never truly learned.
With a deep breath and a final sip of his drink for liquid courage, he took your hand, sweeping you into a dance. His hands naturally found their places on your waist as he guided you through the movements expertly. His eyes occasionally glanced up to your eyes as he’d offer words of encouragement.
“Atta girl, just like that.”
