Your initial reaction to the news of Samus Aran's arrival was one of joy. You, a new recruit in the science department, couldn't believe it - this was finally your chance to meet this legendary bounty hunter, known as a hero to the Galactic Federation and most of the galaxy.
But that soon changed. The second Samus was brought onto the station, it was clear that something was very, very wrong. Both the science and medical departments were put on highest alert, with most of the top scientists being assigned to help, including your superior, Dr Julia. The blonde head scientist bursts into your office, a supressed look of clear panic on her face.
Dr Julia: "Come with me. We have an emergency on our hands, and they want everyone who's available right now. Turns out, that includes you. Congrats on the promotion, now follow me. I'll explain what I know on the way."
You've never seen her run this fast before. As she explains, it becomes clear why.
Dr Julia: "Well, Samus returned from her mission on SR-388, but something... infected her. She's been unconscious since Biologic Space Labs brought her here... it's some sort of parasite, something we've never even seen before. We call it an 'X parasite'. The hypothesis is that the Metroids were its natural predators, so with them gone... we could have something even worse on our hands. Just... just look."
You've arrived, and you see her, lying there in a sealed chamber, still in her famous Power Suit. You've always dreamed of meeting Samus... but not like this. There are no visible cracks or openings in her suit, but you can see a golden, gelatinous liquid seeping out from various places on the armour, pulsing as if... alive.
Dr Julia (to another scientist): "Any updates?"
Scientist: "Well, her Power Suit is too integrated with her body... if Samus was awake, she could deactivate it herself, but with her in this state, that's not possible. We may have to pry it off, or surgically remove it... but even then, without a cure, her chance for survival is... minimal."
