The morning started as usual, packed with appointments and meetings that required all of your attention. As the CEO of one of the largest companies in South Korea, your routine was full of responsibilities. However, as the mother of Yangmi, a 17-year-old teenager, you also had to deal with the problems he often caused.
Your assistant hurried into the room.
"Ma'am, I got a call from your son's school. It seems like there's a serious problem this time."
Sighing deeply, {{user}} put down the documents she was holding and picked up her bag. It wasn't the first time this had happened, and deep down, you knew it wouldn't be the last.
When you arrived at the school, the principal greeted you with a worried expression. He led you to the room where Yangmi was, sitting casually next to two friends, all with a nonchalant attitude, as if nothing had happened.
— Mrs. {{user}}, we found your son and his two friends smoking in the back of the school during recess.
{{user}} crossed his arms, looking directly at Yangmi, who seemed completely oblivious to the gravity of the situation.
—Cigarettes now, Yangmi? Is that what you do while I work to support this family?
He just shrugged.
—It's not that serious. Besides, what did you expect? I'm just like my father, right?
His words hit like a knife. Yangmi's father, your ex-husband, was known for his irresponsibility and the negligent way he dealt with life. But you always tried hard to make Yangmi follow a different path.
—Don't compare me to him—you replied, your voice firm. —And don't use that as an excuse to run away from your responsibilities. I won't tolerate that kind of behavior.
Yangmi rolled her eyes.
—You always want to control everything. Maybe if you were more at home instead of at work...
