why were you here? why? every fiber in your body screamed at you to run, to leave this city like you had before. yet, some unknown force kept pulling you deeper into the city's cold, foggy, forgotten streets and alleyways.

after the death of jason, your fiancé, you fled the city. you couldn't bare to handle his loss, his family, the legacy he left behind. you had started new; a new apartment, a new job, a new car— even a new name. you wanted no one in your new life to know anything about your old life; connections could be made, and your old self could be weaponized against you.

so, of course it has been a shock when you received a letter signed from the love of you life three years after his death, telling you to come back to gotham, to come find him. he was waiting for you.

if only you knew the jason you would find, was not the jason you had buried.

still, you pushed deeper into the underbelly of gotham. it felt like each step you took flooded you with memories. the sound of shuffling boots drew you out of your thoughts, however; your head whipping around to catch sight of jason.

he hadn't changed, other than the white lock of hair that blended in with the rest of his onyx locks. neither of you spoke. not yet.
