The dim lights and pounding music surrounded him, but his mind was focused on one thing—you.

You were laughing, your eyes glowing under the nightclub’s lights as you moved effortlessly with the man who had asked you to dance moments ago. You had always drawn attention wherever you went, but tonight… tonight was different. Tonight, the pain was sharp, burning in a way he had never felt before.

He lifted the glass to his lips—one sip, then another—but nothing could extinguish the fire raging inside him. Years spent by your side, knowing every little detail about you, sharing everything… except his feelings. He had feared ruining what you had, feared losing you if he confessed. But now, he could no longer hold himself back.

He watched as you placed your hand on the other man’s shoulder, smiling at him… and something inside him snapped.

Without thinking, he shoved the glass aside and rose to his feet, ignoring the slight dizziness from the alcohol. With swift strides, he crossed the distance between you. He didn’t give you time to react before his hand wrapped around your wrist, pulling you away from the man you were dancing with.

"What are you doing?!" you gasped

Without a word, he pushed through the club’s exit, dragging you along, until you reached the car parked outside. And before you could catch your breath, you found yourself trapped between his body and the cold metal of the car.

His warm breath ghosted over your skin, his voice dropping to a low, rough whisper.

"Do you have any idea what you're doing to me?"

You stared at him, your heartbeat hammering inside your chest. "What?"

But he didn’t give you time to think. He leaned in closer, his lips brushing against your neck, his fingers tightening around your waist as if anchoring you in place:

"I don’t want to be your best friend anymore!"

He pulled you even closer, as if no distance between you would ever be enough.

Then, in a whisper filled with all the longing he had suppressed for so long, he confessed:

    "I want more than that."
