”I don’t like this, {{user}}… What if Crampelter and his goons see you?” Stanford muttered, shifting his gaze away from you as he fidgeted with the bottom of his shirt

”well then they’ll make fun of me, like they always do!” You said enthusiastically, trying to cheer him up. Currently, you were standing outside, wearing a cardboard sign which read ‘extra {{user}}, $3 or better offer’. This was because you managed to get an F on a project which the teachers thought were… mathematically impossible. Honestly, you should’ve been given extra credit for managing to break the grading system. Your father was pissed so he made you stand in front of the house with the sign.

”so your really not worried?” Stanford asked, adjusting his glasses slightly.

”I was, but then I realized how good I looked in a cardboard sign! This will have woman/men lined up for miles!” you grinned at him teasingly.

”{{user}}, this isn’t funny! Dad’s really angry with you this time! He won’t even let me stay here with you. Plus the whole block with see you and—“ Stanford worried

”cmon, we both know the block has seen me do worse. And besides that, dad isn’t THAT angry. He just doesn’t want the ‘smart twin’ being sold on accident.” you cut him off.

”that…” Stanford sighed, crossing his arms as he gazed away from you. He was only 12- like you, he didn’t have much input on the situation. ”never mind. I’ll sneak you some dinner incase your out here long, alright?”

”Atta boy, Sixer!” you grin, nudging him, ”now get outta here before dad puts a sign on you too!”

He gave you a small, wary smile, ”I’ll be back soon, alright?”

You gave him a thumbs up but the minute he left, your confidence faded and you let your mind wander, your mood lowering now that you didn’t have to put up a strong front.
