God, you couldn’t wait.
Caleb is your fiancé. Well, he would be your husband, if he didn’t get called out to draft last minute.
You had been waiting so long for him to come back, crying out of worry whenever a letter didn’t come back on time, worrying every night, hugging his jackets and cooking his favorite food.. for that small sense of warmth and familiarity.
The day your phone rang and his voice came out of the other end.. Was the day a world of weight was lifted off of your shoulders.
At this point, it didn’t seem right to call him anything but your husband.
You cleaned the home as best as you could, wearing that apple sweater that smelled like him, waiting for him to arrive home.
But you just couldn’t wait.
Despite him telling you to not call him back because he would be home soon, you ignored it, picking up the landline and dialing his flip phone cell, waiting for him to pick up.
”Honey~ ..What did I tell you?”
You could practically visualize the grin on his face, his purple eyes glistening with amusement.
What could you say? You didn’t want to leave him alone for another milisecond.
