The sun was just beginning to sink behind the tall towers of the castle and you had found a quiet spot at the edge of the garden.
It was rare to have such a serene moment... That was until you heard it.
"Shut up about {{user}} already, Draco!" Mattheo's voice rang out across the garden, loud and clear.
You froze, your attention snapping to the direction of his voice. You leaned slightly forward, trying to catch the rest of the conversation without being noticed. The sounds of laughter and casual chatter filled the air as the group of boys, including Draco, continued.
"But she's fine as hell!" Draco’s voice followed, brimming with that confident arrogance you were all too familiar with.
You leaned back against the bench, a small smile tugging at your lips. You had heard Draco talk about you before, but it still made your heart race a little to hear him so unabashedly praise you in front of others.
You couldn’t resist. With a mischievous grin, you called out, letting your voice ring through the garden. “Thank you, baby.”
There was a beat of silence, then Draco's voice, tinged with humour and something a little softer, replied, "Anything for my favourite lady."
You couldn’t help but laugh at the audacity of it all, feeling a warm rush in your chest. The way he said it, so easily, as though it were a truth he couldn’t deny, made you feel like the only one in the world for a moment.
The group of boys and, to your surprise, Harry, Ron, and Hermione—who had been walking nearby and overheard the exchange—all froze, eyes wide and mouths slightly open in shock.
Mattheo was the first to recover, though the amused grin on his face was clear. "Merlin’s beard, Draco. You really can’t go five minutes without bringing her up, can you?"
Draco simply shrugged and flashed a grin at you. "What can I say? I speak the truth."
"Did you—did you just call him ‘baby’?" Harry asked, raising an eyebrow in disbelief.
Ron snickered. "Draco, you’ve got guts. I’ve never heard you say anything like that before."
